SPGA Partners with Small Hotels to Bring Conservation into Guest Experiences
The Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority (SPGA) has joined forces with the Small Hotels and Establishment Association (SSHEA) to transform hotel gardens into living classrooms. This innovative partnership aims to bring conservation and education directly to where visitors are staying, enriching their experience while supporting biodiversity.
Following a meeting led by SPGA’s CEO and Deputy CEO with SSHEA Vice Chairperson Mrs. Louisanne Jacques, both parties outlined a collaborative roadmap to integrate conservation into the daily operations of small, locally owned establishments. Hotel owners will be encouraged to replace ornamental plants with rare and endemic species, creating gardens that showcase Seychelles’ unique natural heritage.
SPGA will provide technical expertise in horticulture and conservation through training sessions on plant propagation and care, ensuring that hotel staff are equipped to nurture these valuable species. A formal memorandum of understanding between SPGA and SSHEA is expected to soon formalize this collaboration, marking a significant step in linking tourism with conservation.
