SPGA and Club Med Seychelles Forge New Partnership to Protect Ste. Anne Marine Park

SPGA has taken a significant step forward in marine conservation through the formalization of a new partnership with Club Med Seychelles. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen joint initiatives within the Sainte Anne Marine National Park, highlighting a shared commitment to safeguarding Seychelles’ rich marine biodiversity. The agreement was officially signed at the prestigious Club Med Seychelles resort, with high-level support from notable officials including the Minister for Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment, Flavien Joubert, along with SPGA Vice-Chairperson Bernadette Willemin, CEO Allen Cedras, and Lionel Kupper, Club Med’s Director of Operations for Seychelles, Mauritius, and South Africa.

Under this new agreement, SPGA will contribute its expertise and personnel to key marine conservation activities, including the Ranger for a Day programme and Turtle Nesting Experiences. Club Med Seychelles will play a pivotal role by promoting these initiatives, facilitating conservation-related events, providing educational materials, and supporting the daily operations of SPGA Rangers within the marine park.

Mr. Cedras expressed his appreciation for the longstanding cooperation between the two entities, emphasizing the importance of unified efforts towards environmental sustainability. “We have a clear vision of fostering a sustainable relationship where conservation efforts and partnerships flourish hand in hand,” he stated. “SPGA’s unwavering commitment to protecting the Sainte Anne Marine Park is further reinforced through this partnership, which aims to deepen stakeholder engagement, promote sustainable practices, and create lasting legacies of environmental stewardship.”

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Kupper shared his enthusiasm for the alliance, aligning Club Med’s global sustainability goals with local conservation efforts. “We are privileged to be part of the Sainte Anne Marine Park,” he remarked. “Club Med adheres to a strict green philosophy across all our resorts worldwide. We are actively eliminating plastics from our operations, prioritizing recycling, and raising awareness among our guests about the importance of protecting this invaluable marine environment.”
