One Team, One Plan: Strengthening Monitoring Activities
One Team, One Plan: Strengthening Monitoring Activities
On 21–22 September, SPGA staff from Mahé, Curieuse, Ile Coco and the La Digue Veuve Reserve came together on Curieuse Island for an internal monitoring workshop and training.
The workshop covered all monitoring activities including corals, fish and invertebrates, seagrass, mangroves, tortoises, sea turtles, the paradise flycatcher, yellow crazy ants and beach profiling. Trainings like this matter because they bring teams from different sites and functions together to work towards one shared goal and one agreed plan, so that monitoring is carried out clearly and consistently across all our programmes.
The two days delivered a single monitoring calendar for all these activities, a clear picture of the staffing, equipment and technical needs for each one, and a named Research Lead and Field Lead responsible for each. Staff also completed a refresher on sea turtle monitoring using the newly revised Earth Ranger form, ahead of the nesting season starting in October.
