Empowering Rangers and Staff Through Visitor Engagement Training

Over two days rangers, conservation officers and customer‑facing staff from SPGA and ICS Seychelles joined a Visitor Interaction & Compliance course, supported by the GOS‑GEF‑UNDP Blue Economy Project via the Programme Development & Coordination Section and delivered by Consultants from NLA International - a team of local and international experts.

From classroom sessions on communication, listening, and de‑escalation techniques, to field exercises on Moyenne Island in Ste. Anne Marine Park, participants practiced turning challenging encounters into constructive ones.

SPGA’s teams from both marine and terrestrial sites, gained practical tools to manage rule‑breaking situations with confidence and empathy. The training also allowed consultants to test a new compliance toolkit, designed to help first responders record and document environmental violations more effectively.

This kind of capacity building not only improves visitor experiences but also strengthens conservation outcomes by ensuring that rules are upheld through positive engagement.

Congratulations to all participants for embracing this learning journey!
