ArcGIS Pro Training - Strengthening Digital Capacity

The Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority has taken a major step in advancing its digital and technical capabilities through the successful completion of its ArcGIS Pro training programme. Held in November 2025, the programme brought together environmental professionals from across Seychelles( Island Conservation Society, Seychelles Fisheries Authority, Blue Economy Department and the Ministry of Environment, Climate, Energy and Natural Resources), fostering cross‑agency collaboration around a shared goal: harnessing accurate, data‑driven information to guide national planning and decision‑making.

Training in Progress

As Seychelles accelerates its digital transformation agenda, the demand for reliable spatial data has never been greater. From zoning and development control to coastal management, infrastructure planning, and environmental protection, geospatial information is central to shaping sustainable national development. The ArcGIS training equipped participants with practical tools and knowledge to meet this demand. Through hands‑on learning, they developed skills in creating intelligent maps, analysing spatial relationships, managing geospatial databases, and interpreting patterns to support evidence‑based policy and planning.

This enhanced capacity will enable SPGA and its partners to deliver timely, accurate, and visually compelling outputs for policymakers, conservation stakeholders, and the public. It also strengthens monitoring of ongoing projects, improves inter‑departmental collaboration, and promotes more efficient information sharing among agencies working towards common environmental conservation goals.
