Anse Major Trail Officially Opens and Adopted by NOUVOBANQ
On Friday 24th November 2023, the Anse Major Trail was officially opened in a small ceremony at the entrance of the trail. The opening was attended by the SPGA Board of Directors Chairman; Mr. Lucas D'offay, SPGA CEO Mr. Allen Cedras, DCEO Ms. Lya Docteur, NOUVOBANQ CEO Mr. Christophe Edmond, DCEO Mr. Philipe Pierre, as well as employees from both organisations. Present also was the District Administrator of the Bel Ombre District and stakeholder representatives.
Entrusted with managing all official nature trails within the National Parks, the Anse Major Nature Trail, famous for its relatively low level of difficulty and being the only nature trail ending at a beach, had as of late been subject to certain development, with the construction of a Ticket Booth at its entrance. The ticket booth will serve hikers accessing the Trail, with entrance tickets for visitors (non-residents) to be charged at a fee of SCR 150.
The Authority was generously approached by NOUVOBANQ at the start of the year, as the Banking Institution wished to contribute towards the protection and conservation of the natural environment found along the trail and other protected areas managed by the Authority. Through this successful collaboration and adoption of the Trail, NOUVOBANQ looks to further encourage active staff engagement in nature based activities, bringing both organisations together, in addition to community driven initiatives whereby they are able to assist with the upkeep and conservation of the various species found along the trail.
The highlight of the ceremony saw the unveiling of the commemorative plaque by CEO Cedras, CEO Edmond of NOUVOBANQ and Mr. D'offay, followed by a tree-planting ceremony to further reinforce the growing partnership.
